The Treasure Valley Hunting Retriever Club (TVHRC) is dedicated to helping the South West Idaho, Eastern Oregon area develop well-trained hunting retriever dogs. TVHRC is also dedicated to help local dog owners to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to train a well-rounded hunting retriever. We have private land to hold our hunt test, picnic test, and training sessions. We generally hold either picnic test or training days once or twice a month from February through September of each year.
TVHRC is associated with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA). Both of these organizations are committed to developing and testing hunting retrievers.
Some of the club’s goals are:
- To educate people on the AKC program
- To educate people on the NAHRA Hunt Test program
- To lend support and structure to both the AKC & NAHRA program
- To educate hunters and non-hunters on how to train their dogs by holding training seminars and picnic trials
- To educate the public on the conservation value that using a dog has for recovering birds during hunting
- To share information and resources with members and other organized groups
